Revocation of The Permanent Residency Permit for Naser Kos for his Role in Civil Unrest

On May 31, 2021, DEFEND JERUSALEM issued a formal request to the Israeli Ministry of the Interior formally requesting that the permanent residency permit for Naser Kos is immediately revoked and that he be deported from the country.

Naser Kos is a high-ranking operative in Fatah, with an extensive operational history of incitement and supporting violent terrorist activity in the Israeli capital and he was a critical component of the recent confrontations and deadly disturbances around Ramadan in May 2021; he has been at the center of numerous acts of terror, violence, and incitement in the previous decade.

Kos has a lengthy arrest record, and he has served extensive prison sentences for the terror and security offenses he has been convicted of. Terrorism, it appears, is a family occupation: Kos’s wife and sons were also arrested on numerous occasions for a wide array of terrorist offenses. It is not out of the ordinary for someone like Kos, a high-ranking officer in Fatah and the terror group’s secretary-general in the Old City of Jerusalem, would involve his spouse and children. He raises money and advocates on behalf of terrorists who have been incarcerated by the State of Israel.

Despite his interactions with Israel’s penal system, Kos continues to incite violence, propagandize against Israel and Jews, and active involvement in a terrorist organization. He carries out these duties and this subversive mission openly, without any attempt or effort to hide his current activities. This must come to an immediate end.

In DEFEND JERUSALEM’s letter of 31 May 2021 to the Interior Ministry, we made it abundantly clear that Kos poses a clear and present threat to Israeli national security and the safety of Jerusalem’s residents. And, considering the precarious security climate in the Israeli capital since the Ramadan violence of May 2021, his presence is a combustible component of Palestinian efforts to use terror as a tool to subvert Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem. Therefore, the legal permission that he has to live and work inside Israel must be revoked immediately and he must be deported from the Jewish state at once.
