In June 2021, DEFEND JERUSALEM notified Knesset Member Omer Bar-Lev, the Minister for Internal Security, that his office must prevent the East Jerusalem Commercial Bureau from operating inside the Israeli capital.
Under the leadership of Kamal Abidat and Louis el-Husseini, the seemingly innocuous East Jerusalem Commercial Bureau secretly serves as an insidious cover for the Palestinian Authority and Fatah inside the confines of the Israeli capital with nefarious intentions against the Jewish state. Israeli law forbids the Palestinian Authority and Fatah from operating inside the confines of the country; the East Jerusalem Commercial Bureau is used to conceal the nefarious activities of these Palestinian terror factions inside Jerusalem. But beyond operating in East Jerusalem, the East Jerusalem Commercial Bureau also has an office inside Beit Hanina, a section of Jerusalem and Israeli sovereign territory. An organization working on behalf of the Palestinian Authority and Fatah must not be permitted a base of operation inside the Israeli capital.
DEFEND JERUSALEM has therefore requested that the Israeli government do everything in its power to close down the East Jerusalem Commercial Bureau’s offices inside the capital, including the shutting down of its phone lines and post office box. Hostile terrorist groups and their supporters who actively seek to undermine the safety of everyone in the Israeli capital cannot be allowed to remain a threat.
