Speaking at the United Nations in a press conference, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Dannon proclaimed, “Today, Israel grieves. For 500 days, we prayed, we hoped and we fought to bring Oded Lifshitz, Shiri Bibas, Ariel Bibas and Kfir Bibas back home. Now, we know the truth. Hamas did not just murder them. They slaughtered them in the most deprived way imaginable. They didn’t shoot Ariel. They didn’t shoot Kfir. They killed them with their bare hands. These monsters looked into the eyes of a nine-month-old baby and his four-year-old brother, and strangled, beat, twisted and shattered them with their hands.”
He continued, “One would imagine that there is nothing more sickening than this atrocity. Somehow, there is. To hide their crime, they mutilated their tiny bodies to make it seem as though they died in an airstrike. This is who Hamas is. Monsters who take pleasure in murdering babies. This is their evil exposed for the world to see.”
Dannon had harsh words for how the international community has responded to this great tragedy: “And yet, the United Nations could not bring themselves to condemn them. When Hamas took babies as trophies for terror, this hall stood in silence. The UN has held countless emergency meetings on Israel and passed numerous resolutions, but when terrorists massacre a baby and a child, and mutilated them, the UN has no resolution to offer. No outrage. No action. That silence was permission and Hamas held it.”
Dannon proclaimed, “We have started to collect the debt that Hamas owes us and we will complete the mission. Every terrorist who had a hand in their murder, who kidnapped them, who tortured them, who tormented them, who murdered them, will be eliminated. Israel will not be silent. We will speak their names. We will demand justice. And we will not stop until every hostage is home and Hamas is eradicated. Today, we will honor the memory of Kfir, Ariel and Shiri. I invite you all to watch the ceremony and bear witness.”
In the question and answer period, Dannon proclaimed the following about Israel’s delay in releasing terrorists who were supposed to be released in phase one: “We have all seen the horrible parades and it is not part of the framework that we have agreed on. We want to make sure that it will not continue. So yes, we are delaying the release of the terrorists for we want to make sure that we will not see those parades again.”
A Fox news journalist then told Dannon about the plea put out by the father of former hostage Hisham Al Sayyid, who demanded that the Arab world be outraged by his son’s condition. According to the Times of Israel, Hisham’s father stated that in the beginning, he did not fear for he thought Hamas would want to keep him alive to trade for terrorists but after October 7, “I started to tremble with fear. I saw that Bedouins and Arabs were killed, working people who weren’t soldiers or fighters.”
According to the Times of Israel, several members of the Bedouin community were taken captive by Hamas on October 7, including four members of one family — Youssef Ziyadne, and three of his children, Hamza, Bilal, and Aisha. According to the report, Bilal, 18, and Aisha, 17, were released during a weeklong truce in late November 2023, and in January 2025, the IDF recovered the bodies of Youssef and Hamza from southern Gaza. The Times of Israel reported that Farhan al-Qadi, another member of the same Bedouin Rahat community, was also abducted on October 7 and was rescued by the IDF in August 2024. Sayed accused Hamas of violating the teachings of Islam by exploiting his son, who “has mental problems.”
“The Arab world doesn’t react, doesn’t give any response to that, doesn’t take any stance,” he said. “We want the Arab world, and particularly Arab society in Israel, to voice their opinion: What do they think about the fact that innocent people were kidnapped and murdered?”
The Fox News journalist then asked how the UN should deal with this. Dannon replied, “As I said, the UN is silent. We have to understand when we look at the hostages coming back, when we look at those faces, we are speaking about Muslims like Hisham who you mentioned, we are talking about the Mengistu family, an Ethiopian family, who is also in very bad shape unfortunately and we demand justice. We want all of them to come back. The UN should pass a resolution condemning Hamas. Since October 7, it never happened.”
