According to a recent report in MEMRI, the Egyptian daily Al Ahram published an article calling for the destruction of Israel.

According to a recent report in MEMRI, “On September 11, 2025 the prominent Egyptian government daily Al-Ahram published an article by journalist Sayed Ali titled “The Meaning of a World Without Israel.” Ali writes that “a world without Israel is a legitimate dream and a noble aspiration,” because “saving the world from Israel and its evil is one of the noblest of deeds and a boon for humanity today and for the generations to come.””
Ali in his article discussed how Israelis fear for their future: “”No country in the world is obsessing about its survival and fearing for its future existence as much as Israel is. Even the secular atheist stream in Isael is immersed in this obsession with survival and continuity, although its [thinking] is not based on scripture… This [fear] has become clearly evident in the recent years… and is now known as ‘the curse of the eighth decade.’”
According to Ali, “The concept is evoked by most historians dealing with the political existence of the Jews in Palestine, who note that, in ancient times, the Jews established two independent political entities in Palestine [the Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judah], both of which collapsed and fell in their eighth decade.”
Ali then discusses the Neturei Karta movement, “”There is a Jewish movement that calls itself Neturei Karta, namely ‘Guardians of the City’ [in Aramaic], which is considered to be one of the most important and ancient Jewish religious movements that fight against the Zionist idea in the world and do not believe in the State of Israel. It has over half a million members worldwide [sic]. Its official spokesperson David Weiss says: ‘The Torah states that whoever goes against God’s will shall not succeed. This state will cease to exist, because it embodies a rebellion against God’s prohibitions.’”
Ali emphasized that many Israelis are leaving Israel since October 7th due to the difficulties associated with living in the Holy Land: “”There are tens or hundreds of thousands of settlers [i.e., Israelis] who returned to their countries of origin or emigrated to the West, quietly and without a fuss, because they realize that the [Zionist] entity is headed for a future of collapse and perdition.”
Ali discussed the radical Islamist belief regarding Israel: “”As Muslims, we believe that [the Jews] will all gather in Palestine, and then there will be a confrontation with them. A world without Israel is a legitimate dream and a noble aspiration that we must not be afraid to voice, because saving the world from Israel and from its evil is one of the noblest of deeds and a boon for humanity today and for the generations to come. Israel is not only hostile to the Muslims. Its evil encompasses everyone and its injustice is ubiquitous. In the past it desecrated the Church of the Sepulcher, and tormented and humiliated the Christians.”
According to Ali, “”This vision [of eliminating Israel] may be difficult or impossible to realize, for ‘Israel’ has become a reality and a fact. It has an army to defend it and an economy that enriches it. But history teaches us about cultures that ruled and then died and about states that existed and then disappeared, and this is doubly [true] of a rogue state that was founded upon injustice and usurpation… and which murders, destroys, isolates, besieges, fights and boycotts [its opponents].”
Ali concluded, “”A world without Israel will clearly be an ideal world, free of injustice, aggression and conspiracy, and without war, fatalities, ruin and destruction – because [Israel] is the reason for many of the most inhuman wars, crises, terror and crimes in the region. [When it ceases to exist] we will no longer see the Arab states divided and falling apart. We will see peace and stability in the region. That is a world without Israel.””
The fact that this article was published in Al Ahram, the Egyptian governmental daily and not Al Jazeera is a cause of concern. The State of Israel has a peace agreement with Egypt. When Israel made peace with Egypt, the Egyptian government recognized Israel’s right to exist. It should be noted that Egypt is a country where the government heavily controls what happens in its state-run dailies. Egypt is not the United States or a European country, where the government has no control over what is printed in the media. For this reason, the fact that such an article was published in Al Ahram should raise the alarm among policy makers in Israel.
