B’nai Brith Canada has exposed a public Discord server used by Quebec medical school applicants and attendees that became a cesspool of antisemitism, racism, misogyny, and hate.

B’nai Brith Canada recently stated on X: “B’nai Brith Canada has exposed a public Discord server used by Quebec medical school applicants and attendees that became a cesspool of antisemitism, racism, misogyny, and hate. For months, a number of aspiring doctors openly posted Holocaust denial, praise for the “Final Solution,” hurled racial slurs, glorified terrorism, and degraded women.”
According to them, “This content wasn’t buried. It was shared in open channels, visible to over 1,400 members. Almost no one spoke up. These aren’t anonymous trolls. They are future doctors. And this kind of hate doesn’t stay online. It follows them into classrooms, clinics, and operating rooms. Silence enables this rot to spread. Institutions must act—now. Hate like this has no place in healthcare—or anywhere in Canadian society.”
The Times of Israel reported that one post read: “Don’t worry. You can trust me as long as you don’t have a kippa under your wig.” According to the report, Holocaust-related content included a remark proposing “a coalition of doctors to pressure the government and call it ‘The Final Solution Bill’” and another that imagined telling SS officers to “gas the attic as fast as possible” if Anne Frank was hiding in a neighbor’s roof space.
The Times of Israel reported that another appeared to call for an “Islamic State of Quebec,” and alleged that “Quebec is done. We’ll dominate soon.” The Times of Israel noted that the platform also made disparaging remarks about women. “The downfall of society came when women had the right to vote and work,” one poster commented. “No, the downfall happened when Jews got rights,” another answered. Another poster said: “I don’t understand why women take our places in medicine when the majority of them become housewives.”
The channel was created for students to discuss applications to Quebec’s four medical schools, the Jerusalem Post reported. A medical student at McGill University who anonymously spoke to the Montreal Gazette estimated that there were 30 offensive Discord accounts on Med server. “I was shocked by the individuals, the 20 to 30 people who were posting this antisemitic stuff,” the student said. “What they were talking about had nothing to do with medicine, except where they were saying that Jews are controlling the application process at McGill and you get bonus points if you’re Black or Indigenous or you should dress up like a Jew for the interview.”
According to the Jerusalem Post, the student added that the fact that nobody intervened or stood against what was being posted was the biggest problem, given that around 1,500 people are applying for medicine in Quebec, and “therefore the [Med server membership] is like 99% of the students that are going to be applying to Quebec medical schools.”
Doctors Against Racism and Antisemitism (DARA) told the Times of Israel that the posts “are the culmination of the inaction and silence of the medical school and university leadership across Canada since October 7, 2023, to skyrocketing antisemitism in their faculties of medicine. Now is not the time to be quiet.”
The president of the Association des Médecins Juifs du Québec, Dr. Lior Bibas, told the Montreal Gazette: “If these accounts are really from future physicians, we need an immediate investigation to identify those responsible and ensure they are not admitted to our medical schools or allowed to practice medicine.”
