At around noon last Thursday, at the height of the lunch hour and as Israeli children came close to ending the school day, the bomb sirens went off in Abu Ghosh, Beit Shemesh, Beitar Illit, Efrat, Ein Geddi, Gush Etzion, Hebron, Jerusalem, Kiryat Arba, Masada, Latrun, Modiin, and other areas across the greater Jerusalem area, Judea and Samaria and the Dead Sea. The missile was intercepted and there were no reports of injuries nor damage, the Times of Israel reported.
Earlier in the day, at around 3:00am, the bomb sirens were sounded in Modiin, Ben-Gurion International Airport, Bnei Brak, Holon, Kfar Chabad, Petach Tikva, Ramat Gan, Ramla, Rehovot, Rishon LeZion, Tel Aviv and a variety of other locations across Central Israel. Millions of Israeli citizens were forced to rush to bomb shelters in their pajamas.
“Following alerts that were activated a short time ago in several areas of the country, one missile launched from Yemen was intercepted. The alerts were triggered according to policy,” the military stated, JNS reported.
According to the report, Israel’s Magen David Adom medical emergency response group said it received no reports of casualties in the attack from Yemen, except for panic attacks and people who were injured on their way to a shelter.
The Houthis took responsibility for both missile attacks, saying it had targeted Ben Gurion Airport, the Times of Israel reported. According to the report, the Iran-backed terror group also claimed to have launched two drones at Israel overnight. There were no reports of drones reaching Israel from Yemen in the past day.
Between Tuesday and Thursday night, the Jewish state’s air defenses have intercepted four projectiles fired at the country by the Iranian-backed terrorists, JNS reported. Rocket sirens were sounded Tuesday evening in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon and its southern industrial zone, prompting residents to seek shelter, Yedioth Achronot reported. According to the report, a single projectile launched from the northern Gaza Strip was intercepted by the air defense after crossing into Israeli territory. No injuries were reported in the incident.
On Wednesday evening, Yedioth Achronot reported that the bomb sirens were also sounded in Southern Israel. According to the report, three projectiles were fired but did not land in Israeli territory. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad took responsibility for the rocket fire on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to Yedioth Achronot, the military’s Arabic Language spokesperson Lt. Col. Avichay Adraee warned residents of the northern areas of Gaza to head south for safety ahead of an imminent attack in response to the rocket fire. “The IDF will act with force in the area from which rockets were fired. Terror groups, especially Hamas, are responsible for the suffering of civilians. For your own safety, head to the south,” Adraee said in his post.
