A missile fired from Yemen forced millions of residents in the Jerusalem area and Tel Aviv region to seek shelter Monday, Israel Hayom reported. Around 8pm, the bomb sirens were sounded in Tel Aviv, Bat Yam, Or Yehuda, Bnei Brak, Givatayim, Herzliya, Modiin, Rosh HaAyin, Ramla, Bet Shemesh, Petach Tikva, Ramat Gan, Rehovot, Rishon LeTzion, Kfar Chabad, and many other cities in Israel.
According to Israel Hayom, the missile was intercepted over Jordanian territory, with some reports indicating fragments managed to fall in Israeli territory north of Tel Aviv and in the Judean Foothills. The IDF stated, “Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in several areas in Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted prior to crossing into Israeli territory.”
Arutz Sheva reported that the sirens were sounded in accordance with protocol. According to the report, residents in Gush Etzion reported hearing explosions. The Houthis have resumed missile launches toward Israel over the past week, actions they claim demonstrate solidarity with Hamas, Israel Hayom reported. According to the report, Israeli officials have repeatedly linked the Houthi attacks to Iranian support, claiming Tehran provides weapons, technology and training to the Yemen-based terror group.
Earlier in the day, the bomb sirens were activated in Sderot and the Gaza vicinity communities after the Palestinian Islamic Jihad sent two rockets at Israel. Arutz Sheva reported that the attack occurred shortly after 7 pm Israel time. Arutz Sheva reported that the projectiles were shot down by the IAF.
Magen David reported that following the alarms heard in the Gaza periphery, no calls were received about casualties, except for cases of panic and people who were injured on their way to protected areas, Arutz Sheva added. It marks the third rocket attack from Gaza on Israel since the military resumed its offensive against Hamas last week, the Times of Israel reported.
In other news, MEMRI reported that in the London-based Saudi daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, the daily’s former editor Tariq Al-Homayed, wrote “since Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel, the region has been steeped in destructive military chaos. This chaos, he said, has revealed the true face of Iran and its proxies, exposing the futility of their so-called “defiance and resistance.””
He proclaimed: “Nasrallah, for example, claimed to fight Israel in order to help Gaza, but his real goal was to serve Iran and he ended up paying the ultimate price. Hamas, which previously pretended to focus on building and developing Gaza, brought a destructive war upon itself and is now trying in vain to present itself as the victor. The Houthis threatened shipping in the Red Sea but ended up achieving nothing. As for Iran, it is now trying to deny any responsibility for all this, falsely claiming that it has no proxies in the region after its officials repeatedly boasted about controlling four Arab capitals.”
According to MEMRI, “All this, says Al-Homayed, shows that futile war based on empty bragging is not the solution to the region’s problems. The answer lies in promoting the two-state solution, putting an end to Iran’s expansion project and pursuit of nuclear weapons, and rejecting militias that destroy their countries from within.”
