At around 10pm Israel time, the bomb sirens were sounded in Netanya, Ben-Gurion International Airport, Bat Yam, Beit Yehoshua, Bnei Brak, Even Yehuda, Herzliya, Hod Ha-Sharon, Holon, Modiin, Kfar Chabad, Kfar Kassem, Kfar Saba, Modiin Illit, Petach Tikva, Ramat Gan, Ra’anana, Rehovot, Rishon Le=Tzion, Tel Aviv and other areas across Central Israel.
According to Arutz Sheva, the IDF stated, “Sirens sounded in several areas in Israel following a projectile that was launched from Yemen. The details are under review.” According to the report, the IDF later confirmed that the missile was intercepted; two pieces of shrapnel fell in Modi’in, causing damage but no injuries. According to the Times of Israel, the Police say officers have reached the scene to remove the debris.
Around the same period of time, Arutz Sheva reported that the bomb sirens sounded in Haspin and Ramat Magshimim in the southern Golan Heights after two rockets were fired at Israel from Syria. According to the report, the Home Front Command issued a warning of rocket and missile fire towards the area. An IDF spokesperson stated that “the details are under review.” The rockets reportedly struck in an open area, Arutz Sheva added.
Residents in the area reported hearing explosions, apparently as a result of shelling or falling objects in the area, Arutz Sheva noted. At this stage, there are no reports of casualties or property damage, Arutz Sheva stressed. Following the launches, the IDF struck targets in Syria, Arutz Sheva emphasized. “A short while ago, IDF artillery struck in southern Syria following the projectiles launched toward Israeli territory,” a statement confirmed in Arutz Sheva.
Following the missile fire from Syria, the Times of Israel reported that Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz says Jerusalem views Syrian leader Ahmad al-Sharaa as “directly responsible for every threat and [rocket] fire toward the State of Israel.”
“The full response will come soon,” Katz threatens, adding in the Times of Israel that Israel “will not allow a return to the reality of October 7.” According to I24 News, this is the first time rockets from Syria have threatened Israel since the fall of former president Bashar al-Assad’s regime last year.
Yesterday, the Jerusalem Post reported that the IDF identified and intercepted a missile launched from the Houthis in Yemen towards Israeli territory. According to the report, Israeli air force defense systems operated to intercept the threat, the IDF stated, noting that sirens sounded in central Israel, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, according to protocol. Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA), said that there were no reports of casualties or injuries, the Jerusalem Post added.
According to the Jerusalem Post, parts of the interception fell in the Jerusalem area, specifically in southern parts of the city and in a community outside of Jerusalem. According to the report, the Jerusalem District Police bomb disposal units operated at the sites where debris was located to prevent harm to civilians. No reports of casualties or property damage were received.
