It is almost inconceivable but 2021 will mark twenty years since the 9/11 attacks against the United States. Everyone remembers where they were and what they were doing when the news broke that hijacked planes had been flown into the Twin Towers in New York City and, later, into the Pentagon a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
2021 also marks twenty years since the first catastrophic suicide bombings of the Second Intifada. Like 9/11, it is almost impossible to forget where you were and what you were doing when places like Sbarro Pizzeria, Moment Café, and the Frank Sinatra Dining Hall at Hebrew University entered our psychological lexicon as landmarks of sorrow and suffering; few who were there can ever forget the haunting sounds of the ambulance sirens racing to and from the crime scenes.
