A car-ramming attack in the central Israeli town of Kfar Yona has left the country on high alert. According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred early in the morning last Thursday when a speeding vehicle suddenly veered into pedestrians on Route 57 near the entrance to Kfar Yona. The Times of Israel reported that eight soldiers were wounded in the ramming attack.
According to the report, two of the victims, a man and a woman aged 20 and 18 respectively, suffered moderate injuries. The Times of Israel reported that three others were in light-to-moderate condition, and three were slightly injured.
An MDA paramedic who came to the scene told the Times of Israel that some of the injured had been thrown 15 meters from the bus stop. According to the report, he said they were all fully conscious when medics arrived and recounted how the vehicle sped toward them, hit them, and then drove away. Magen David Adom evacuated the wounded to nearby hospitals for treatment. Initial investigations suggest that the driver intentionally targeted the crowd.
Israeli security forces are treating the incident as a terrorist attack. Arkan Khaled, the terrorist suspected in the car-ramming attack in Kfar Yona who was arrested at a construction site in the area on shabbat, was caught while hiding inside a crane, Yedioth Achronot reported. According to the report, hundreds of police officers have been searching the area since Thursday, seeking to locate the terrorist.
In the wake of the terror attack, the Kfar Yona municipality announced tighter security measures in public spaces, with increased police presence and checkpoints around sensitive areas.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the terror attack, stating: “This is yet another act of cruelty aimed at spreading fear among our citizens. We will not surrender to terrorism, and those responsible will pay the heaviest price.”
The United States and the European Union also issued statements strongly condemning the terror attack and expressing full solidarity with Israel during this challenging time.
The Kfar Yona terror attack is part of a troubling trend of ramming and stabbing attacks in recent months. In June 20235, a car-ramming attack in Tel Aviv injured three civilians. In May 2025, a stabbing incident in Jerusalem’s Old City left one tourist dead and two others wounded. In April 2025, a ramming attack in Netanya injured several pedestrians before the assailant was shot by security forces.
Security experts warn that this wave of lone-wolf attacks, often inspired by extremist propaganda, poses a significant challenge to law enforcement and intelligence services. The terror attack in Kfar Yona has once again highlighted the rising security threats facing Israel. Analysts believe that, in response to this pattern of violence, security protocols will become even stricter, with reinforced surveillance and early detection measures.
