According to a recent report in Palestinian Media Watch, Abu Mazen and the Palestinian Authority continue to refuse to renounce violence, despite claims to the contrary in front of the UN General Assembly.

According to a recent report in Palestinian Media Watch, “While Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas delivered an address to the UN General Assembly claiming that the PA had “rejected violence and terrorism” and “adopted a culture of peace,” the PA’s official daily continued to glorify the terrorist murderers who killed six in the attack in Jerusalem three weeks ago as Palestinian and Islamic heroes.”
Six Israelis were murdered and eight others were wounded in a Jerusalem terror attack that the BBC described as “one of the deadliest shooting attacks in Jerusalem in recent years.” Israeli police said “two terrorists arrived in a vehicle” and opened fire towards a bus stop at Ramot Junction, on the city’s northern outskirts, the BBC reported. According to the report, an off-duty soldier and a civilian returned fire, “neutralizing” the terrorists.
Israeli media identified the slain as five men, aged between 25 and 79, and a 60-year-old woman. The slain Israelis were identified as Rabbi Mordechai Steinsteg, Yaakov Pinto, Sarah Mendelson, Yossef David, Rabbi Levi Yitzhak Pash, and Israel Mentzor. The Times of Israel identified the victims as “a teacher, a rabbi, a father of six, a grandmother, a newlywed immigrant, and a former American cardiologist.” One of the victims, Yossef David, left behind a widow who cannot even afford to pay rent and feed her children in her husband’s absence. Aside from the slain in this terror attack, local hospitals said two of the wounded were in a serious condition.
If the Palestinian Authority had “renounced violence and terrorism” and “adopted a culture of peace,” then all media outlets associated with the Palestinian Authority would have renounced this brutal terror attack. However, Palestinian Media Watch reported that the PA-led media did the opposite of renouncing terrorism, “By saying that every terrorist killed while murdering Israeli civilians has “ascended to the heavens” as a “Martyr,” the PA is telling Palestinians that murdering Israeli civilians is what Allah desires and that as a reward, they have reached the highest spiritual plane possible for a Muslim.”
As the PA Daily Al Hayat Al Jadida recently reported, “Occupation forces demolished yesterday (Saturday) the house of the Martyr, Muthanna Amr, in the town of Al-Qubeiba, northwest of occupied Jerusalem…It should be noted that the Martyr, Amr, ascended to the heavens from the occupation’s fire on September 9 [sic., September 8] of this year together with Muhammad Taha in Jerusalem on the pretext that the two carried out a shooting operation.”
Palestinian Media Watch concluded, “Considering that most Palestinians have very strong Islamic beliefs, this sanctification of the murder of Jews by the PA’s official daily represents the greatest promotion of terror. It exposes the falsehood of Abbas’ claim to the UN that the PA “renounced violence and terrorism” and “adopted a culture of peace.” In spite of Abbas’ speech to the UN, the PA remains a terror-supporting entity.”
