At 7:25pm Tuesday evening, the bomb sirens were sounded in Efrat, Jerusalem, Abu Ghosh, Ben-Gurion International Airport, Bat Yam, Beitar Illit, Beit Shemesh, Bnai Brak, Herzliya, Holon, Hod Ha-Sharon, Modiin, Kfar Etzion, Kfar Saba, Lod, Ramat Gan, Petach Tikva, Ra’anana, Ramla, Rehovot, Rishon Le-Tzion, Tel Aviv, Jaffa, and a variety of other places across the greater Tel Aviv and Jerusalem areas.
Mako reported that after the bomb sirens were activated, Ben-Gurion International Airport was closed for activity. According to the report, the rocket was successfully intercepted from Yemen. The IDF reported that after the bomb sirens were activated in a number of areas across the country, the missile from Yemen was successfully intercepted, yet the bomb sirens were still activated according to protocol. The long-range missile was intercepted by the Hetz Missile Defense System, Arutz Sheva reported. Magen David Adom reported that there were injuries from shock and from individuals on the way to the bomb shelter.
Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom, stated that they were treating and evacuating a 40-year-old woman from Holon in moderate condition with leg injuries, and a 65-year-old woman with a minor head injury, who will also be evacuated for further medical care, the Jerusalem Post reported.
The Houthis launched the missile as US President Donald Trump delivered an address to the neighboring Saudi Arabia, which is in the missile’s flight path, Arutz Sheva reported. Over the past two months, the Houthis launched 31 missiles at Israel, 11 of them misfired and fell in Saudi territory, Arutz Sheva added.
On Monday, a ballistic missile launched from Yemen, apparently aimed at Israel, fell short in Saudi Arabia or off its coast, according to an Israeli defense source, the Times of Israel reported. According to the report, the military identified the launch, but no sirens sounded in Israel because the missile did not pose a threat.
The attacks came a week after Israel carried out two days of heavy sorties targeting infrastructure controlled by the Houthis in response to a missile that struck Ben Gurion Airport. The Times of Israel added. After Ben Gurion was hit, most foreign airlines suspended flights to Israel, the Times of Israel noted.
The US announced last week that it had reached a ceasefire with the Houthis, but the Houthis stated that Israel was not included in the ceasefire, and that the terror group would continue to fire missiles at Israel, the Jerusalem Post reported.
The Houthis — whose slogan calls for “Death to America, Death to Israel, [and] a Curse on the Jews” — first began attacking Israel and maritime traffic in November 2023, a month after the October 7 Hamas massacre, the Times of Israel reported. According to the report, the Houthis held their fire when a ceasefire was reached between Israel and Hamas in January 2025.
By that point, they had fired over 40 ballistic missiles and dozens of attack drones and cruise missiles at Israel, including one that killed a civilian and wounded several others in Tel Aviv in July, prompting Israel’s first strike in Yemen, the Times of Israel noted. However, they resumed their missile fire when the fighting resumed in Gaza on March 18. According to the Times of Israel, their missiles have sent hundreds of thousands of Israelis rushing to shelters at all hours of the day and night.
Later in the evening, the Israeli Air Force intercepted two rockets fired from the Gaza Strip that caused sirens to sound in Sderot and the surrounding Gaza border area, as well as in Ashkelon, the Jerusalem Post reported. According to the report, Palestinian Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the rockets launched at southern Israel, Walla reported. A third rocket fell in an open area, the Jerusalem Post added. According to the report, the Sderot Municipality stated that no injuries or property damage were reported.
