A Palestinian man stabbed and wounded two people in a terror attack at a hotel in Kibbutz Tzuba near Jerusalem on Friday, police and medics said, the Times of Israel reported. According to the report, the wounded are a 50-year-old man, seriously injured, and a 23-year-old man, moderately injured. Both were conscious and suffering from stab wounds, the hospital said.

The Jerusalem Post reported that the terrorist was recently hired as a contractor at the hotel to work as a dish washer. The Times of Israel claimed that he was convicted in the past of security offenses. Arutz Sheva reported that he was previously convicted of throwing stones. The Times of Israel reported that he is from Shuafat in East Jerusalem. Hamas praised the incident as a “heroic stabbing attack” that deals a “new blow to the occupation’s security apparatus.” However, the Times of Israel reported that the terror group did not take responsibility for the stabbing.

The Jerusalem Post reported that the terrorist was subdued by an off-duty police officer, who was visiting the hotel for a family event. “I was at a family event at the hotel when I noticed a crowd rushing out. I immediately realized something unusual was happening, so I shouted for people to stay calm and walk instead of running. I drew my gun, grabbed identification for myself, and ran toward the direction the crowd had fled from,” the officer recalled of the attack. “To minimize the risk to remaining civilians, I subdued the terrorist using only physical force, not gunfire. With the help of some others, we managed to pin him to the ground and put him in handcuffs. I noticed a person had been stabbed in the upper body and gave him first aid. It was then I saw that my cousin had also been stabbed.”

Arutz Sheva reported that the terrorist shouted “Allah Akhbar” before stabbing the two victims in the dining room of the hotel. An eyewitness who was staying at the hotel told Arutz Sheva: “We were sitting to eat, there was suddenly a commotion, we didn’t understand what was happening. We saw someone holding a knife about to enter the balcony where we were, and an Arab employee, the dining room manager, caught him and saved us.”

MDA paramedic Noa Sade, who treated and evacuated the seriously injured man to the hospital, told Arutz Sheva: “When I arrived at the scene, I joined the MDA scene commander. The casualty, who was suffering from a stab wound to the chest, was fully conscious and lying on an MDA ambulance stretcher. We provided him with medical treatment, including fluids and medication, while evacuating him to the hospital, as his condition was serious and unstable.”

MDA Senior EMT Ro’i Ben Shoham recounted to Arutz Sheva: “When I arrived at the entrance plaza, I saw an injured man sitting in the parking lot, conscious and suffering from a stab wound to the chest. The team that was with me in the ambulance provided initial medical treatment, including bandaging, bleeding control, and administering oxygen, and he was evacuated to the hospital by an MDA Mobile Intensive Care Unit in moderate condition. With the assistance of the security guards on site, who neutralized the attacker and handed him over to the security forces, we carried out a search during which we located a man about 50 years old in the dining hall, also suffering from a stab wound to the chest. We provided medical treatment that included bleeding control and administering medications, and he was evacuated to the hospital by a Mobile Intensive Care Unit in serious condition, under the care of an MDA paramedic.”
